I've seen similar things in Elder Care discussions, too. Putting grandma in a home means you're a Bad Offspring, You Ungrateful Thing You.
Maybe putting grandma in a home means she gets the CARE SHE NEEDS and the society of people her own age rather than being a lonely invalid? Love is important, but it is not a cure-all.
Sometimes the most loving thing you can do for someone (older, younger, parent, child, sibling, spouse, friend...) is to admit, "I cannot help you. But I can help you find someone who can help you."
